Eating Together

I’ve always enjoyed spending time in the kitchen. Even more, I’ve enjoyed sharing the food I’ve labored on with friends and family.  There’s few joys more than cooking up a delicious meal and having people you care for enjoy it.  That’s why I use to love having family dinner with my roommates when I still lived with Ross and Stacie.

I’ll have to admit.  I haven’t been able to explore the culinary world as much recently as I have in the past. Kendra has been doing most of the cooking since she gets off work before me.  We also stay pretty busy on the weekends and have yet to share many meals with others.  This is something I want to change.

Several years ago, I remember reading an article about underground dinner clubs that were popping up all over the US and many other countries.  Basically, groups of friends get together on a regular basis and share a quality meal together that the host creates for everyone else, or the groups prepares together.  Each occasion is hosted by a different member of the group. Themes can also be set for each meal. I really want to try this.

Here’s my ideas for my own dinner club. (Or our club since Kendra is obviously going to be involved.):

  • The club will consist of 6 people total. Couple or individuals are welcome.
  • Each meal will be prepared for 6-8 people. (The host has the option to invite up to 2 extra if space permits.)
  • Couples or Individuals will take turns hosting the event.
  • Meals will occur once a month on a scheduled date though the day can be adjusted if an emergency arises.

Though the rules can be changed once the group is assembled, I feel this is a good place to start.  I would love to make this bigger once we have a feel for how things go.  It would also depend on space for the hosts as well. Since Kendra and I are based in Nashville, the participants would all have to be from the area.

If anyone is interested in trying this with us, please let me know.  We can come up with a name and make it official!
